Can you believe Valentine’s Day is already this coming weekend?  While celebrating this year is certain to look different than past years, there are plenty of ways to make the most out of the day with the ones you love most!  Whether you’re looking for a romantic evening for two or are planning an eventful day with the whole family, there are plenty of ways to make this Valentine’s Day one to remember!

Start with breakfast in bed.  The possibilities for this are endless.  For starters, you can start the day right by surprising your loved one with a romantic and intimate breakfast in bed.  Don’t forget the champagne!  Or, you could make a themed breakfast for everyone in the family and have everyone in bed eating together and enjoying one another’s company.  For a guaranteed relaxing morning for everyone, order breakfast from your favorite go-to restaurant for takeout or delivery!

Get the kids involved.  Although many, if not most, of the kids in the greater Omaha/Council Bluffs area, are back in school, traditional Valentine’s activities will most likely look different this year (especially for the grade school kids).  Since the traditional passing out of valentines and candy at school might not be happening, consider making Valentine’s mailbox with them for you to sporadically put fun treats in throughout the weekend.  This will keep their spirits up and remind them about the love that the day is all about!

Have a movie night. Before the kids head to bed, have a special movie night, complete with dinner and festive drinks!  After they’re all tucked in, put on a romantic movie, open a bottle of wine, and enjoy your evening, just the two of you.

Create your own wine and cheese tasting.  Go beyond an ordinary dinner night at home and create your very own tasting with hand-picked wines and cheeses that you know you’ll enjoy!  You can go with your favorite staples or mix it up and try new flavors and blends.  For dessert, add in a chocolate tasting!

Participate in a virtual cooking class. Cooking classes have long been a Valentine’s Day staple and this year, while many couples still won’t feel comfortable going out to celebrate, there has been a significant increase in virtual cooking class options!  Whether you’re looking to make something completely new or just add a twist to your favorite pasta dishes, there’s sure to be a virtual cooking class for you.  After all, what’s more, romantic than cooking together in the kitchen you share?  After dinner is complete, relax and choose from one of the many virtual concerts and live shows available to stream!

Bake something special as a family.  Another way to get the whole family involved is to get everyone in the kitchen for some holiday baking fun!  Whether you’re going to decorate heart cookies or bake a heart-shaped pizza for dinner, getting everyone involved this year will surely create lasting memories and traditions!

Get takeout and curbside cocktails from your favorite local restaurant.  Just because you aren’t feeling up to going to a local restaurant, doesn’t mean you can’t support them while also giving them some much-needed business!  Many restaurants are offering their full menu for takeout/delivery and some are even offering their signature cocktails to-go!

If you are dying to get out of the house and celebrate this weekend, you can do so safely at one of the trendy igloos in Omaha.  The igloos are perfect for a romantic date night or a family night on the town!  No matter how you choose to celebrate, have a wonderful Valentine’s Day and, here’s to getting back to normal soon!
